“That’s A Good Question”

At any company meeting you can bet on several things. One is whenever somebody says, “That’s a good question.” it’s better than the answer you are about to get.

I used to call meeting planners and ask them, “What are your people doing now that you want them to stop doing after I present to them?”

This was followed by stoned silence, then almost always the response: “That’s a GOOD question.” I never got a good answer to go with it. I never got hired by using that question…

So I quit asking good questions. I now ask provocative questions that people can’t wait to answer.

If you want to make an impact, as provocative questions…not just good ones.
