Do Your Own People Love Your Organization?

The spirit of community thrives at Southwest Airlines.  Why?

They have great employee morale. Fly Southwest Airlines and you are treated great because the employees love working for Southwest.  Their planes take off on time more than any other airline can boast.  They don’t charge you for extras.  They put the customer first.  Is it any reason they rank at the top of every customer service poll in the airline industry?

Or go into an Apple store and you are met with employees who love working for Apple.  Apple is a company that fosters innovation and creativity within its corporate culture.  They have reinvented the tech store.  Umair Haque, Director of the Havas Media Lab writes, “The goal of Apple Store employees is simply to show off their awesomeness, and let you share it.  Love for what we do is the basis of all real value creation.”

Love of your company builds community at its basic level.

Leaders who spend time studying and building community will reap the rewards of increased productivity and performance.

Coach your people to be the best they can be.   Reward them often and publically.  Stimulate their achievement.

Generate love for the organization and a sense of community at work.
